FPOP9 John Sims
Palomino LP (Vinyl only)

Reviews

'A band, not a bloke, responsible for fuzzy, stoned post-Krautrock, rather like the Delgados in a blender.' 3 stars out of 5 Melody Maker

'Hailing from Leicester and having close links with the now defunkt Po!, JS forge their own quality brand of lo-fi but sophisticated future-pop. Comparisons don't do them justice. For an album produced on 8 track in someone's kitchen it has a lot of depth. Weird keyboard drones and sustain guitars are cleverly layered over bass and drum-machine/breakbeats. The other particularly cool touch about this LP are the sound bridges wedged between tracks - more swirly noises, distorted samples and fragmented beats - this owes as much to Mo' Wax as Sarah Records. By far the best tracks are the final sequence of "Elfmeister" - a relatively rock oriented tune which dissolves into the dubby strangeness of "Pale Flags". John Sims have pitched them at the Tortoise/Broadcast type of noise without losing their pop heritage.' Home Cookin' Fanzine
